What Are Significators in KP Astrology?

2026-02-02 · 5 min read

A significator, in KP terms, is a planet considered relevant to a particular house or matter - determined through a structured set of rules involving the planet's placement, its Star Lord, and the houses it owns or occupies.

For a given question, a KP practitioner identifies the significators connected to the relevant houses, then studies the current planetary periods (dashas) of those significators to build an interpretation relevant to that specific question.

Why this is useful for focused questions

Because significators are identified in relation to a specific house and question, this method lends itself well to questions like 'is a career change indicated' rather than a broad, general reading - which is part of why KP is often chosen for focused consultations.
